Why Did You Choose to Selfpublish Instead of Taking The Traditional Route?
I chose self publishing because I didn't want to query a hundred different publishers and get a hundred rejection letters.
Did You Set Out To Become an Author as Your Main Profession?
No, but I was always go at writing and creating stories. When I was younger I won awards for creative writing in school. My mother use to tell me I should be a writer and I should have listened to her.
Which Authors Have Inspired You The Most?
Authors who have inspired me the most are historical romance authors like Virginia Henley, Catherine Coultere, and Johanna Lindsey. Their books are classics to me in the romance genre, they can weave a tail and make you get swept up in their stories.
If you change a few things around in those authors books they would read like a contemporary Romance. I use to read a lot of historical romances and every once in a while I go back and read them over again.
Tell Us About Your Book.
Imperfections is my debut Novel it's sort of a forbidden friends to lovers romance. My heroine Cat has been in love with her friends who is also her older brothers best friend since they were kids but he would never cross that line even though he was attracted to her too.
They get older she moves away to college and then comes back ready stake her claim on him. There's one major problem though, well actually there is more than one but the first is he is engaged to her older sister. Family loyalty and friendship clash. Choices have to be made, is she willing to risk it all for everlasting love?
What Is Your Favorite Part of This Book, and Why Do You Think Readers Will Enjoy It?
My favorite parts are when you get to see all the characters interact one on one. The chemistry between Nick and Cat is intense because he's intense but it has a sweetness to it when he's with her in the way he cares for her since they were kids. Which make the love scenes just as intense as their complicated relationship. I also love the relationship between Cat and her best friend Ava. Ava is kick ass take no bullshit hilarious and she has Cats back all the way.
Where Do You See Self-Publishing Going In The Future?
Honestly I don't know anything could happen but I think self-publishing is going to open up even more doors and opportunities for other authors who would have thought they couldn't find an audience and a way to get their books published. Traditional trade publishers are already teaming up with self-published authors and I think hybrid publishing is what a lot of traditional and self-pub authors are looking to do.
In some ways it can be a great partnership to extended your reach to a greater amount of readers.
Who Designed Your Cover Art?
Sarah Hansen at Okay Creations. She did a great job on my cover I love it. I wanted something a little different from what's out there and she delivered. On top of that she was fast and professional.
