Why Did You Choose to Selfpublish Instead of Taking The Traditional Route?
I self publish and use the traditional route. I was published by several houses before I self published and I think this was beneficial as I already had a reader base, my name was already out there. I still do both as I enjoy both, having a publisher backing a book is incredible, but so is having full autonomy over a story.
Did You Set Out To Become an Author as Your Main Profession?
No, I'm a qualified nurse, I trained in London, UK and worked as such for 18 years. A move to the countryside with my husband's job forced me to rethink my career and after a creative writing course with Cardiff university I've found great pleasure in my second career as an author.
Which Authors Have Inspired You The Most?
Too many to mention, but in the genre, Kristina Lloyd, KD Grace, Sommer Marsden to name a few.
Tell Us About Your Book.
The Glass Knot is an MMF erotic romance novel set between Spain and the beautiful Cotswolds in the UK. It's a story about a happily married gay couple who introduce a woman into their relationship and the fallout (and sexy times) that arise from their decision.
Here's the back cover:
What’s a girl to do when the guy she falls for is married to another man?
This is exactly what happened to me. Seeing Josh Kendal stroll out of the Mediterranean Sea wearing tight navy swim trunks and looking like a hot new James Bond was a truly delicious moment. Catching sight of his wedding ring was like a kick in the shin and meeting his gorgeous husband, phew, that was enough to make any girl groan at the cruel joke God was playing on her.
But all was not as it seemed, and when Josh needed a woman to sort out a ‘delicate predicament’ I was the one for the job – heck, what did I have to lose? Certainly not as much as him, literally.
Trouble is, emotions always get tangled, loyalties can’t help but be divided and with a night of memories so hot they'd have the devil sweating, there was only one thing for it—it was time to get honest, fight for what I wanted despite society’s constraints and open my heart to the people it needed most.
What Is Your Favorite Part of This Book, and Why Do You Think Readers Will Enjoy It?
The Glass Knot has many 5* reviews and some of the main comments are that it has layers, yes, it's incredibly erotic and sexy, but it's also a love story and an unconventional one at that.
Where Do You See Self-Publishing Going In The Future?
At present the erotic/erotic romance genre is swamped with self published titles, not all of which are of quality. I hope that this eases up soon and readers have an easier time sifting through to find writing they enjoy.
Self publishing is here to stay, that's for sure, but the traditional houses (I also write for Mischief at HarperCollins) are always going to have power too because they put books on shelves in the big stores.
