Why Did You Choose to Selfpublish Instead of Taking The Traditional Route?
Self-publishing is perfect for me, it allows me to operate on my own time line, choose where I distribute, set the price, choose my royalty options and so forth. Basically, I retain control over each part of the process, which I value.
The flip side is amount of work to be done. I was surprised to find that all the other pieces of the puzzle, formatting, marketing, social media, etc.— take as much time or more than the actual writing.
It’s been well worth the hard work. Seeing the results of my efforts and passion come to life is rewarding in a way I’ve never experienced.
Did You Set Out To Become an Author as Your Main Profession?
Nope! I'm a physical therapist, have been for ten years. My obsession with reading, and runaway imagination inspired a desire to write throughout the years, but I always pushed it to the back burner. When I was home with my youngest kiddo, I decided to give it a go. Now, I'm addicted and have truly found my passion.
Which Authors Have Inspired You The Most?
There are a number of them, but Marie Force has been my strongest inspiration. I think she's a fantastic example of how you can change your life path and have amazing success in this industry.
Tell Us About Your Book.
Striker is the first book in the No Prisoner's MC series. The lead male, Striker, is the VP of the motorcycle club and his leading lady is Lila, an independent, smart and mature female. Here's the blurb:
Dr. Lila Emerson is finally free of the shadow of her politically connected family, with her new job in a small town Emergency Room. But her new peace is shattered when she encounters the dangerous, but compelling Striker. He's everything she should stay away from, but all she craves. And since he keeps turning up in her ER, he's hard to avoid.
As Vice President of No Prisoners outlaw motorcycle club, Striker is no stranger to violence. But when it touches the pretty doctor he wants in his bed, he'll do anything to keep her safe. When Striker and Lila are thrust together, sparks fly and passions ignite. Before long they find themselves entangled in a relationship neither saw coming.
The MC can and will eliminate any threat against Lila, but what if they—and the man she's falling for—are the reason she’s in danger?
What Is Your Favorite Part of This Book, and Why Do You Think Readers Will Enjoy It?
My favorite thing about this book is the maturity in the relationship between Striker and Lila. As a reader, I can't stand a whiny female who overreacts to every situation, and makes the hero jump through hoops just to be in her presence. So, I set out to create a female who could handle herself and act like an adult.
Where Do You See Self-Publishing Going In The Future?
I think the indie author movement is going to continue to grow bigger and stronger. Changes and expansion in technology have already had a profound influence on the industry, it's exciting to see how it will continue to grow.
