Why Did You Choose to Selfpublish Instead of Taking The Traditional Route?
I'm not a fan of waiting for someone else to authorize my greatness. With that said, I never took the plunge into self-publishing until I came across a little book on making money online that exposed Kindle books as an avenue for financial self-sufficiency.
Overall, I love having control. I'm a bit of a control freak - and you know what? It kind of shows itself in my books too...
Did You Set Out To Become an Author as Your Main Profession?
No. Honestly, I was always intrigued by erotica and never thought I had the chops for it. It wasn't until I had light success in non-fiction publishing that I opened my eyes to fiction writing.
Before this, I was simply a copywriter and content strategist.
Which Authors Have Inspired You The Most?
Zane is the queen of erotica to me. Anne Rice as A.N. Rocquelaure was also amazing. Jasinda Wilder's story deeply inspired me about 2 years ago. The drive she had to succeed was powerful and couldn't be topped.
Tell Us About Something You've Written.
Wild Succulence is the 2nd installment of the Succulence series. This is a 4-part series - the 4th and final installment is Master Succulence (coming Valentine's Day 2015).
Wild Succulence comes off the heels of Succulence, which stars Amy Michaels and her co-worker Stacy. Both are beautiful and intelligent girls trying to forge a career path for them when the challenges of life arise. Stacy's dealing with scandalous exposure of her night-time gig as an escort, and Stacy's trying to navigate a proper way to maintain her sanity while being blackmailed into an office romance with her boss. Towards the end of the book, things kind of explode in an interesting way that kind of leaves you shocked. Heck, I'll admit it - MY JAW dropped at the end.
What Is Your Favorite Part of This Book, and Why Do You Think Readers Will Enjoy It?
My favorite parts always involve Stacy and Dean. Dean is her boss, and he's a coercive jerk with a hard-on for Stacy. He's literally imbued with passion for the power he holds, and there are some spicy and dominant power play scenes with him and Stacy in both the beginning and the end.
However, the tables kind of turn on Dean in the end. The way it happens is quite unsuspecting. ;)
Where Do You See Self-Publishing Going In The Future?
People fear the oversaturation, but cream always rises to the top. I think it will adjust and change, but those who have eyes on the bigger picture - and a love for the game - will survive and thrive.
Of course, I'm not a psychic, so I believe there's just a lot that's coming... good, bad, but completely par the course.
Who Designed Your Cover Art?
I purchase pre-made covers. I'm a designer, but book design is not my specialty. I can't pretend that it is, so I find pre-made covers and use those.
