Why Did You Choose to Selfpublish Instead of Taking The Traditional Route?
I chose to self publish rather than seek a traditional publisher because I wanted to get my books to readers quickly. I wanted to be able to write, edit, and publish a story, and then the next one, before readers turned to dust waiting on the next book! Seriously, I love reading independent authors because I know that they're going to get their series published on a timeline that doesn't make me absolutely insane waiting for the book release.
Did You Set Out To Become an Author as Your Main Profession?
I am one of those people that has always wanted to be an author. In fact, writing has been my primary vocation since I started working, though I have done a lot of other jobs. But I knew I wanted to be an author and with the boost that self publishing got with both Amazon and Barnes and Noble distributing indie ebooks, I jumped right in and got started. Though, my first works were business books, I'm very happy to be publishing the fiction I love now.
Which Authors Have Inspired You The Most?
Barbara J. Hancock, Stephanie Draven, E L James, and Emily Jane Trent have inspired me more than any other authors to write the stories I love and to trust in the power of what I love to create a compelling story.
Tell Us About Something You've Written.
Submitting To My Billionaire 1 is the beginning of Julian and Erica's story, where they meet during a job interview. Julian wants Erica as an employee, but he wants her also as his submissive, something that Erica says yes to but discovers is more complicated than it seems because Julian has many, many issues.
What Is Your Favorite Part of This Book, and Why Do You Think Readers Will Enjoy It?
My favorite part of Julian and Erica's first book is how deeply Erica already feels for him. I felt that strongly for Julian too, but I created him, but it felt natural, if sudden, for Erica to see beyond what the surface of everything is and to realize that even the seemingly perfect Julian actually is deeply troubled by his past.
Where Do You See Self-Publishing Going In The Future?
Because I primarily write romance, I see a depth of the romance between the main characters in books going on further...because of the series that myself and many authors publish, we see past what the HEA of one book can give us. We see their struggles, we see their triumphs, and we see how they build these things together. Ultimately, I see self-published romances creating deeper love stories that draw in readers more than ever before and that means a more ravenous set of fans.
Who Designed Your Cover Art?
I designed my cover art myself - which is either a brag or an apology ;-) I spent a lot of time on getting it as close to perfect as I could, but most importantly, the models look like my characters and could be enacting a scene in my book, and the font is very readable at any size. So I think that's a good thing. Yes, I designed the cover!
Thanks for the Interview. Anything else you'd like to say?
I'm so grateful to my readers that they enjoy my books. Working really hard to get them out there, to make them the best books they can be, and to keep up with all my readers is easily the best job in the world. Thank you so much - and thank you for this interview.
