Why Did You Choose to Selfpublish Instead of Taking The Traditional Route?
I've worked with both Traditional and Indie publishers in the past, but ultimately I enjoy being my own boss. It's like suddenly having to grow up at long last - I am accountable only to myself, so it can't ever be anyone else's fault if I mess things up!
Did You Set Out To Become an Author as Your Main Profession?
Not originally. My school was very disapproving of children wishing to progress into the arts, and so those of us who were inclined toward writing, art, music, and other creative careers were told in no uncertain terms that there was no work to be had there and we were better off focusing on our Maths and English.
If your children are being told this at school, please nurture them. Office work is soul-destroying for creatives!
Which Authors Have Inspired You The Most?
In no particular order: N R Walker, K J Charles and Kaje Harper for M/M Paranormal Romance.
In other genres, for their writing and storytelling skills: Iain M. Banks, Michael Marshall Smith, Philip Pullman and Terry Pratchett.
Can You Tell Us About One of Your Recent Releases?
Blind Man's Wolf is an M/M Paranormal Romance novel, and the first in a new series. It introduces Ellis, a night-blind vampire art dealer; and Randall, a dog trainer and werewolf with a gentle heart.
There are some naughty scenes, a bit of non-naughty stabbing, and glimmers of a wider plot which will begin to rear its head in the next book.
What Is Your Favorite Part of This Book, and Why Do You Think Readers Will Enjoy It?
I adore Randall and Ellis, especially when they first meet. Randall has an innocence about him despite being weary about his situation in life, and it rubs up against Ellis' rather more bleak outlook.
I hope readers will enjoy the moment when the characters' walls are both torn down and they are forced to confront their own fears.
Who Designed Your Cover Art?
Scarlet Cox. We're good friends - it was Scarlet who suggested self-publishing to me - and I love her covers!
