Why Did You Choose to Selfpublish Instead of Taking The Traditional Route?
Self-publishing allows for more space for experiments. I don't feel restricted by any agent and it feels great.
Did You Set Out To Become an Author as Your Main Profession?
I've been writing for years, but it has mostly been non-fiction. I come from academia and have been working in journalism for a long time, so becoming an author is not such a big step, if seen within the context of my professional background.
Which Authors Have Inspired You The Most?
The answer to that question isn't an easy one. I've been inspired by Bukowski, Kerouac and Rushdie alike. On the one hand I like intense characters, on the other hand I appreciate complex storyline.
Tell Us About Your Book:
My second book 'Second Coming'. It's an explicit short story, currently priced at around 1$ on Amazon, and free for Kindle Unlimited users. Here, I was less focused on character development, because I have already done most of it in the first part of the series, 'Hard Enough'.
The book is about young Lana and a somewhat older Richard, who is eager to get to know her sexually. The scenes pictured in this book are perhaps overstepping vanilla boundaries here and there, but all in all I'd say 'Second Coming' is very steamy, without getting into a weird kink. This is something I like to write.
What Is Your Favorite Part of This Book, and Why Do You Think Readers Will Enjoy It?
My favorite part is the actual sexual encounter between Lana and Richard, and how the sexual tension suddenly turns into actual sex. In fact, I have enjoyed this scene so much, that I have actually pleased myself to it - with success.
I think that the readers most likely to enjoy this part are the ones who generally seek for steamy scenes.
Where Do You See Self-Publishing Going In The Future?
It can only grow. As more and more people realize that it can be a fantastic outlet for their creative energy. I also think that quality standards will rise, because on every corner you get told 'Make good books if you want to sell them', 'Be as good as you can be'.
Who Designed Your Cover Art?
I did it myself. My skills are distributed in different areas -- graphic design included.
