Today, TNL is pleased to have along Tiffany Bell, the prolific author of The Bimbo Dickgirl Experiment and Captive of the Amazons, to name just a few. Tiffany's got a lot going on and a lot of great information for her fellow authors and readers alike, so snuggle in, get your favorite drink or dirtiest thought in mind, and sit a spell.
When I first started self-publishing, it was a daunting task. I really didn’t know what I was doing, but it was certainly easier than the idea of traditional publishing. I’m not sure I could have sent an email to a publisher saying, ‘Hey, I have this story about tentacles and space travel… Yeah, sexual tentacles, of course… Yeah, they go everywhere, uh-huh… and here’s a twist—the tentacles possess humans and give the women tentacle-cocks… …h-hello?” At least, that’s how I see the conversation going. I just didn’t see myself being taken seriously at all. That’s about 90% of why I chose self-publishing.
I also have the added benefit of being in complete control over my work. I notoriously go back to my older stories and reedit it months after its initial release just because I always feel like my abilities as an author are growing, and I like for my body of work to stay somewhat on the same level.
So, you could say you’re a little embarrassed about what you write?
Yeah, a little, I guess. I’ve kind of grown into it, but at first, I was terrified of what my friends and family might think. My friends were all very supportive and more than encouraging, and I think a few tried their own hand at it. I still haven’t told my entire family what I do, but of the people I have told, the response that surprised me the most was from my grandmother. She just kind of shrugged off the news, and I guess judging by my hesitance and the lead-up to the reveal that I write erotica, she may have thought I was in porn, or was a stripper or something. Haha.
Did you set out to become an author as your profession?
Not really. I originally went to school for graphic design, but I’ve been ‘writing’ erotica for a little more than a decade. I started off with simple RPing (role playing) on AOL of all places, and discovered a darker side of RP that just completely blew my mind—tentacles, demons, and other perverse creatures. At the time, I was uh, kiiiiind of underage to be RPing the dirty kinds of things that I did. With RP and hentai influencing me, I sort of became ‘that weird girl’… although I wore the badge proudly during high school and college.
But yeah, graphic design jobs were few and far between in my area, so the competition was really cut-throat. At a particularly low point in my design career, someone I know made a joke about writing erotica for a living, which I shrugged off until someone replied that they lived off it for a period of time. I thought to myself, ‘I write dirty stuff all the time… Why not share my kinky ideas with the world?’ and so I gave it a shot, and I absolutely love it!
Which authors have inspired you the most?
Neil Gaiman, Stephen King, and George R. R. Martin are some of my favorites, despite how stereotypical that list may be. Truth be told, I play more video games than I read books. But, I would say the split is about 70/30.
You’re true to your pen name’s personality when you claim to be a cosplayer and gamer?
Absolutely! I’m actually going to a convention this weekend as Zero Suit Samus from the Metroid series. I almost always cosplay video game characters. My favorites are the strong female roles. I feel like there need to be more characters like Samus, Jill Valentine (Resident Evil), and Commander Shepard (Mass Effect).
What have you written lately?
I’ve actually just released a mega-bundle of my first tentacle series, ‘Invasion of the Tentacle Creatures from Space’ that contains all 9 chapters.
What is the book about?
It’s an awesome story of mankind finally finding alien life on a mysterious planet. The aliens happen to have tentacles that really enjoy Alexandra and Samantha, our protagonists, while uh… examining their bodies very thoroughly, and implanting them with alien eggs. They’re rescued, but the crew becomes infested by some of the samples that were taken from the duo, leading to the entire ship being compromised… and then it escalates to the entire Earth being taken over.
So, this has some pretty hardcore tentacle sex?
The first chapter is what you would expect from a tentacle story, but as the story progresses we find out that the tentacles can infest and take over humans, converting them into an alien army. In the process, the tentacles that possess the women make them grow cocks so they can knock-up and ultimately convert their victims and add to their numbers.
What is your favorite part of the book?
The part that never fails to turn me on is in chapter 2 when the doctor is transformed by her assistant. It’s a steamy section that really sets the tone for the rest of the series as we see the doctor change into the leader of the alien species.
Where do you see the self-publishing industry going in the future?
I can only see the industry growing as more people get tablets. The idea of anyone being able to share their ideas without the limits of a company scrutinizing everything is amazing. I think physical copies of books will always be a thing since so many people love having something they can actually hold.
Who designed your cover art?
As a graphic designer, I do all of my own covers. It’s a super-convenient thing to know how to do, and I love actually using the skills that I learned in college… although I sort of wonder if my professors would think this was the best use of my talents. Haha.
That's everything! Thanks bunches for giving TNL the chance to give this exclusive interview. We can't wait to see what you come up with next!
