Today TNL is joined by Cindy Johnson, author of the Ploughed by The Farmhand series. She's here to offer a little advice about self-publishing as well as some perspective on her latest book and what she enjoys about good erotica as a reader.
Why Did You Choose to Self-publish Instead of Taking The Traditional Route?
Self-publishing offers me so much more control over my work, that it'd be really hard to work another way. I was drawn to the creative, fun, hot nature of erotica - and traditional publishing would really put a damper on all three of those things!
Which Authors Have Inspired You The Most?
I'm a big fan of humorous, intelligent stories that are also full of heart and sexy fun. Some of my favorite authors are Tabatha Austin, John Dylena, Nadia Nightside, Scarlet Cox, and Alicia Paris.
Tell Us About One of Your Latest Efforts.
My first novella, Island Fever, is probably my favorite work to date. The longer format allowed me to really have fun with my characters and plot, diving much more into the way control and gender swaps hit all my hot buttons. I'm so proud of the funny, sexy story this title novella turned out to be!
What Is Your Favorite Part of This Book, and Why Do You Think Readers Will Enjoy It?
I think readers will enjoy how funny this story is. Sex isn't all serious faces and moody music - it can also be lighthearted and hilarious. I hope readers get through the book and think "that was hot, but also really funny."
Who Designed Your Cover Art?
I actually designed this cover myself. I found an image of the perfect blonde beach bimbo, and I felt inspired to have a little fun in the design room. ;)
Thanks for taking the time to speak with us here at TNL, Cindy. Your experiences seem to echo many of those within the selfpublishing community.
